Peter Carey

Peter Carey est né à Victoria, en Australie, en 1943. Il a étudié les sciences à la Monash University. Il a ensuite travaillé comme rédacteur publicitaire avant de pouvoir vivre de sa plume. Il a vécu successivement à Melbourne, Londres et Sydney puis s'est installé à New York où il enseigne la creative writing à la New York University. Il a reçu deux fois le Booker Prize pour Oscar et Lucinda (1988) et pour La véritable histoire du gang Kelly (2001, il a aussi reçu le Prix du meilleur livre étranger). Ses deux derniers livres ont été publiés chez Christian Bourgois éditeur, Haut vol : histoire d'amour en 2007 et Un autre en 2009.
