La rétrospective sur le couturier Thierry Mugler présentée au musée des Arts décoratifs réunit plus de 150 tenues réalisées entre 1977 et 2014, en plus de nombreux documents d'archives inédits et croquis.
Elle dévoile les multiples univers de cette figure artistique incontournable - couturier visionnaire, metteur en scène, photographe et parfumeur - en revisitant notamment ses créations prêt-à-porter et haute couture.
Thierry Mugler a mis en scène les défilés de mode les plus spectaculaires de son temps. Il a conçu des costumes de scène pour la Comédie-Française et pour le Festival d'Avignon. Il a habillé de nombreuses stars telles que Diana Ross, David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Liza Minnelli, Céline Dion ou encore Kim Kardashian.
Il a créé les costumes de Mylène Farmer et de Beyoncé pour nombre de tournées et vidéoclips.
Photographe et réalisateur, il a tourné des clip ainsi que des courts-métrages mettant en vedette les actrices Isabelle Huppert et Juliette Binoche.
Ce livre qui accompagne l'exposition en présente les principales sections. Il reproduit en pleines pages une sélection de photographies signées par les plus grands artistes qui ont accompagné Muhler tout au long de sa carrière - Helmut Newton, Peter Knapp, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, David LaChapelle, Stéphane Sednaoui, Jean-Baptiste Mondino, Jean-Paul Goude, Pierre & Gilles, Patrice Stable, Inez & Vinoodh , pour n'en nommer que quelques-uns -, dont la plupart sont inédites. Elles sont accompagnées de vues de la scénographie de l'exposition. -
